Last of Us

I am posting this from an iPad so I apologize in advance for typos or autocorrects.

This game isn't the most unique choice, as it is currently being talked about constantly and given the highest ratings by reviewers, however I think it is worth mentioning as most people have not played it yet, since most have a 360 not a ps3.

This game is the ideal storyteller. Most games that focus around the appocolypse confuse me. Isnt looting one of the first things to happen in this scenario? So then how would anything be left for the player? In this game, it is 20 years after the appocolypse, and it shows. You can't run and gun through this game, you have to stealth and use as little items as possible. If you don't, you will run out of equiptment very quickly. The game pulls you into this world of urgency and stress, as you need to be stealthy and subtle, and going in with guns blazing is not an option.

The writers also do a good job of not making the game cliche. The two main characters may have their conflicts, and they are cliche in the way that they don't address these conflicts, however they are more like real life where these conflicts, when not important, don t linger over the heads of the characters for too long. They move on, apologize very realistically, where the topic is skipped around, but a resolution is made. Characters are realistic, plot is intense, and the game is definitely worth playing.
