Geocaching

Ok, so working on this scavenger hunt reminded me of something that a friend told me about a few years back...

Geochaching.

I'm not sure if any of you have heard about this, but it's basically an open scavenger hunt that is self perpetuating. Being a bit of a mix between a time capsule and a item search, it's quite interesting.

"Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled devices and then share their experiences online."

1. Browse
Search for interesting geocaches: Find My Location

There are 1,485,358 active geocaches and over 5 million geocachers worldwide.

2. Discover
Explore the world as you search for the cache using a GPS device or smartphone. Find the cache, sign the logbook and see what others have left behind.

3. Share
Share your experience with other treasure seekers.

Here's the website in case you all want to check it out. It's really quite interesting. http://www.geocaching.com/
